Since his first encounter with the impressive giant tipis during a two-year stay in Sweden in 2004, Bernd Forster has been fascinated by these unique tents. As one of the first to bring the Scandinavian tipis to Germany, he has made it his mission to bring their special atmosphere to this country. Bernd Forster has been running Rent a Tipi with passion and personal commitment ever since and ensures that every event is an unforgettable experience under the fascinating tipi roofs. His enthusiasm and dedication are reflected in every detail of his work.
Owner & company history
Our company owner Bernd Forster discovered the tipis for the first time in 2004 during his 2-year stay abroad in Sweden and was thrilled. Until then, the connected giant tipis were only available in Scandinavia. Bernd Forster was the first to import the tents to Germany in 2004 and market them outside Scandinavia.
One year later, the company RENT A TIPI was founded and has experienced steady growth ever since. In 2012, we set up our own production facility and since then we have been producing and developing our tipis to the highest quality standards based on our wealth of rental experience.
RENT A TIPI has also expanded internationally. In 2006-2008, various events were held in the UAE, in Abu Dhabi. In addition, the military of the United Arab Emirates has already been supplied with tents.
In 2013, the so-called RENT-A-TIPI Regio Partner concept was created in order to be present at the customer’s location and also to make the transportation costs as low as possible for the respective renter.
The aim is to create a rental network in the medium term that covers Germany, Austria and Switzerland and then other countries in Europe.
In addition, a new tent was added to our rental range in 2015, the so-called stretch tent or flex tent, which originates from the Bedouins and represents an elegant extension of our concept.
In recent years, we have successfully acquired regional RENT A TIPI partners with their own sales and warehouse – including in northern Germany and Switzerland.
